How do I increase or decrease the number of Signals?

The Signals feature in AMPLYFI helps you track key content, but you may need to increase or reduce the number of signals collected based on your needs.

How to increase the number of signals

Use these tips to ensure you capture all relevant content:

  • Review content sources: Check if the breadth of your content sources is wide enough. Are there important topics or subjects missing from your feeds?
  • Add synonyms or interchangeable terms: Ensure all relevant terms are included. For example, for "autonomous vehicle," you might also add "self-driving car."
  • Expand your sources: Navigate to Feed Settings > Sources to add more trusted websites and RSS feeds. Include any industry-specific sources that might provide additional insights.
  • Create new signal types: If you want to monitor a specific regulation, product, or partnership, go to Feed Settings > Create Signal Type and add keywords. For example, to track partnership news, add terms like ESG, Bitcoin, or Nvidia while setting OpenAI as your primary interest.
  • Check niche Interests: If your Interest is a small or obscure organisation or topic, ensure your settings are optimised. If necessary, reach out to your Customer Success Manager for backend support.
  • Adjust signal parameters: For Interests with a low media footprint, change the signal type to "Mentions" to collect content that includes general mentions of your Interest.

How to reduce the number of signals

Use these tips to refine your results and filter out irrelevant content:

  • Block irrelevant sources: For any signal linked to an irrelevant source, click the three dots on the right-hand side of the signal card and select "Block URL." You can manage these blocked sources anytime via Feed Settings > Filters.
  • Review and refine signal types: Use the Signal Types (Filter) option on the far-right of the screen to identify which signal types are generating excessive content. Remove any irrelevant ones via Feed Settings > Signal.
  • Apply sector filters: For topics that appear in multiple contexts or industries, apply a sector filter. For example, refine "Additive Manufacturing" to focus on "Aerospace" rather than "Consumer Goods Production." View the available sector filters in Feed Settings > Filters.
  • Reduce sources and signals: Decrease the number of content sources via Feed Settings > Sources or reduce signal types via Feed Settings > Signals to focus on the most relevant results.

Using Views to simplify content management

Leverage the Views feature to create filter configurations that focus on key content. With Views, you can save custom presets for different use cases, ensuring that your team quickly accesses the most relevant signals.
